forestUrban Forestry Webinar

New tools to build and energize local sustainability efforts

Smart Growth Network hosted a webinar that explores the resources available to help policymakers and municipal executives make decisions about the future of their community's forests, and to learn how urban forestry can help drive progress toward Smart Growth and sustainability goals.

The webinar features Laurence D. Wiseman of CenterLine Strategy and the founding president and CEO of American Forest Foundation, Ian Leahy of American Forests and Lauren Marshall of the U.S. Forest Service.

Among topics addressed, the Vibrant Cities Lab is featured as a web tool for city managers, policymakers and advocates looking to build thriving urban forest programsTrees are often an after-thought as professionals, planners, policymakers and advocates consider their community's future. Why? Few people oppose healthy tree canopy in their community. But many aren't aware of the multiple benefits trees can provide. And even more may not know how to begin building an effective urban forestry program.

The webinar was recorded in March 2018 and is available for watching at Smart Growth online
